anyone know whats happened to affordablehost.com ? they have been having problems the past few weeks, now they are down

Posted by rkuris, 10-22-2004, 07:41 PM
Down it seems, for the last 10 minutes or so.

I just tried to access sites and affordablehost's homepage and nada on both accounts. I am really really hoping their expanding (purchasing another company) isnt going to cause things to go downhill. I have been so happy with them for the past year - Keeping fingers crossed. Carol

They just went through an IP address change yesterday, but this outage seems unrelated. They've been down maybe 15 minutes or so.

Posted by rkuris, 10-22-2004, 07:58 PM
Yep, I'm an AH customer. I don't have their number handy, but I expect we'll get an update shortly.

Ive tried and it's still unavailable.

Yes, everything appears to be down...

I suspect a DoS. They suffered one a couple of weeks ago. This has become more of a trend for them recently. I hope AH comes back soon, I can't get my email

Our dedicated with the is unreacheable also... Anyone know what is the domain for their support website? is it on a different network?

Posted by mulligan, 10-22-2004, 09:09 PM
It's all on the same network. I think all that we can do at this time is be patient and weather the storm. If it is a DoS, hopefully the kid(s) responsible will find something shiny and get distracted.

Posted by LittleStone, 10-22-2004, 09:18 PM
technicalsupportnow.com [199.173.21.10] is still not reachable. The last DoS was handled fast. Now it's already 2 hours?

Posted by mrzippy, 10-22-2004, 09:30 PM
That's not good. They really should put that site on a different network... (And the chat site, too...)

Posted by Tina J, 10-22-2004, 09:32 PM
Massive DoS attack. Fun stuff. Actually, it was fun about an hour ago...at this point I'm about ready to cry. AT&T has been wonderfully responsive and helpful tonight. Unfortunately, as we block off one area of the DoS...it comes at us from another. Looks like we're working late tonight. :-P --Tina

Thanks for the update Tina. I wish you plenty of luck! And I also wish I could give you a magic gun to shoot whomever is doing this to you. I wonder if Starbucks will deliver?

Thanks for the update Tina, much appreciated. Hopefully the cowards responsible choke on their next meal.

You know, we actually have a plan mapped out for moving technicalsupportnow.com and chat.affordablehost.com to Pathway's network (ISP down the block). Looks like I should have put that a bit higher on the priority list. --Tina

Don't cry, Tina. Well, let us know where that coward is. My hockey stick is ready.

Posted by mrzippy, 10-22-2004, 09:46 PM
Murphy's law! As soon as you plan it... the worst will happen right before you do it. Take tonight for example. My wife and I were supposed to leave 3 hours ago for a nice romantic weekend getaway that we already booked and planned for 3 weeks. Yup, you guessed it. I've been stuck all day at the computer dealing with major problems at three of our providers.. and now of course this one hits just as the others were being resolved. Ack! My wife thinks it's time to start a career doing something else. ANYTHING else, she says.

We have it mostly under control now. Still getting hit pretty hard, but we're keeping up and I think these twerps are getting bored now. Sorry for the frustrations everyone. I promise we're on it until its 100%. --Tina

Looks like they just got un-bored again. *sigh* ... I think we need 24x7 365day a year schools to send DDoS'ers to. No offical knowledge of a ddos, but looks similar.

We have such places - it's just a bit hard to get them enrolled. But once there, a couple of years as some bad man's boyfriend ought to show them the error of their ways. Last edited by bryan53; 10-24-2004 at 09:11 AM.

Yes, they are at it again...and so are we. We actually have a bit of a lead on who may be doing this. --Tina

Everything seems back in order now for us here. Well done Tina.
