McHost Server down (Fraud and Fraud)

Posted by TimBraz, 10-18-2004, 10:33 PM
In the past, I have defended to some extent McHost. I was with Marc for three years.. I know when the big problem happened a few months ago, I was one of the understanding people. I moved my server from McHost anyways at that time. That was 3 months or ago.. maybe less. I canceled my account with McHost at that time.. Well I was billed last month for a server that I did not have.. and today I was billed again for the server.. I contacted them and was told that billing would handle it.. I gave them until today to put the money back.. Needless to say, it is not there. So, since I hang at this forum more than any.. I just want to post to everyone to beware of McHost.. Everyone was correct in the past. not only do they have server problems from time to time.. they also double bill your cc as well as still charging you if 3 months after you canceled service.. heading to other forums now.. I will be back a couple of times a day and update this to let consumers know what is going on.. STAY AWAY FROM MCHOST.. they are doing unfair business practice..

What is this doing here?

I put it here because my McHost server is down. If this is not the correct place.. the mods can move it..

Tim, you fail to mention the entire story that is held in our support tickets. You claim that your server was cancelled through a support ticket but the ticket is not there, you do not have the ticket ID and neither the confirmation email, saying you may have deleted it. However, we do have in our support tickets a record after the supposed cancellation date mentioning that you would move domains from another provider to your server with us. Why would you move domains to a server that has been cancelled previously, according to you? This does not make sense and makes us believe that there was never really a cancellation from you. We're not fraud billing you, we simply have obligations to our software providers (CPanel and Virtuozzo) for licensing costs. If you simply refuse to pay for the server and do not tell us before, we are the ones who need to pay the licensing costs in the end. That's not how things work, at any hosting company. Also, what you failed to mention is that i have instructed our staff to refund your payment even though we are not bound to this by the contract you've agreed to, which states: For virtual private and dedicated servers, the cancellation must be initiated at least 30 days before the cancellation date requested. Subscriber is responsible for and must pay in full all fees during the 30 days including any monthly recurring fees. Legally and by contract, we're entitled to this payment even if you had cancelled your server on the date requested. I strongly recommend that you read the terms of service of any hosting company before signing up, before cancelling and before complaining publicly about terms you've agreed to but refuse to honor. I understand that with your daughter in hospital you cannot support the VP server, as you stated in your emails to us. However, this is no ground for not resolving issues appropriately with us. I wish you all the best and your daughter a hopefully quick recovery.
