You'll likely be fine on bandwidth. Forums don't use a ton , to be completely honest. Your more pressing concern should be with resource usage and hackability. What framework are you using for the forum, let's start there... phpBB, MyBB, XenForo, vBulletin? What's your software? For the most part, any host can run a forum. Now, if you get to the point where you're too popular, and start running into mysql or memory resources, it might be time to consider moving. However, if your host has cPanel, that's somewhat straightforward as well.

Any shared hosting (with cpanel recommended) can run a NEW forum. You have to check their uptime and support before you choose. You can search some reviews here. Anyhow it's depend on which software you want to use also?

You'll reach other limits before than bandwidth on a very busy forum, you can go to any reputable host and it should fit your needs, do not worry too much about the bandwidth.

Any shared hosting plan would do as everyone stated above, but your resource limits would be an issue. If your going to go the route of Forum hosting pick a decent company or plan, none of those $1 plans or companies will work any justice in a forums Hosting environment.

Be sure to look beyond how much bandwidth a host is able to offer for your budget. Otherwise you may be running slow even if you have "unmetered"/lots of bandwidth left.

Forums tend to load slow, or have pages refuse to load, on shared hosting. As others said, you'll hit other resources long before bandwdith. Forums love to eat RAM (MySQL queries) and CPU.

I would say that could depend on the forum software you are going to use. I mean forum software developments can be affiliated with some web hosting companies and such companies can have their servers designed for this forum software. So that could be one of the ways of making decision.

Good morning! All popular CMS are able to run on any shared web hosting. But with my experience on phpBB, I would recommend SSD hosting which increase a bit the performance.

Hi Mike, Any good provider should be able to host a forum on a shared plan but be ready to upgrade to a VPS if the site gets very busy. As others have mentioned MyPHP and other such solutions are quite resource intensive with lots of users. Most providers offers unlimited bandwidth, if your not using something like 1TB a month I would not worry about bandwidth for now. Find a provider with SSD which most have these days anyway as it will improve read speeds and better loading times for your forum. All the best to you finding a good home for your forum

How big is your forum? If its a new forum then maybe try a shared plan, however if it already has a decent userbase you may need something with more resources. There are a few shared hosts who may be able to give you more resources to use, probably best to have a look around.

If the forum is brand new, then the resource usage should be very little. Any host should be fine to start. Once it grows, you can then search more specifically based on how much resources you are using. If it grows and you start to get a lot of traffic at some point, you will need to upgrade to a vps or dedicated server to handle the resource consumption.

Depends on the software you use. If is Discourse, NodeBB etc, you might need a VPS. For those PHP forum scripts like Xenforo, IPS. MyBB etc, shared hosting would be nice. A few names I heard recently are Bluehost, StableHost etc. I cannot say these are the best, but I am hearing this here and there recently.

One of those is excellent, one is terrible. Do research. Don't pick the wrong one!

There is an option of free web hosting, but free hosting always provide limited resources and space. Following are some of the disadvantage of free web hosting: Google demotes s web from its rankIt can also reduce your website speedIt also slow down the loading speed of your websiteFree advertisements would be displayed on the screen Paid web hosting are better but it is difficult to find a good web host. Because some hosting companies provides poor customer support and if your website would go down all of a sudden then you might not receive a response for the hosting company
