ServerMatrix [Merged]

Posted by A Grateful Dad, 06-10-2004, 10:55 AM
Good Morning, Is it me, or is ServerMatrix up and down like a Yo-yo today? This has been going on way to long and I thought it was my provider, they checked and anything off The Planet's network is great. I replaced a Router to ensure that was not the problem either and I still cannot get to my Server... ARGH!!! Cheers! /bin/false

down for me, looks like a router or something is down since you can get to some sites but not others

Posted by kufel, 06-10-2004, 12:28 PM
actually one of ours just disappeared... I spoke with service rep on th ephone 5 minutes ago - apparantly some network issue affecting part of the data center and should be resolved shortly.

My server went down accidentally in the middle of the work! Just received respond from ServerMatrix that they have network outage on the part of their ip's. Does anyone else have these problems now? My server ip's are 67.18.155.x Last edited by yaax; 06-10-2004 at 12:37 PM.

My TotalControl server in dllstx4 is down as well. Can't even trace from a box inside dllstx2.

I just sent an email to a client saying "hey, everything is fine here, I am looking at your site right now" and BOOM. SM down. I'll just quit.

Yup my server at theplanet.com is down. I'm just glad I'm not the only one. When I can access theplanet.com site, but not my server, I fear the worst (hardware failure).

Known issue. Their engineers are working on the problem. Seems to only effect some new servers order about a week ago. (guessing) I came here first. Did not see any other post. Usually their will be one a few seconds from going down. Their network page said everything was fine so I submitted a ticket. The planet is really good. Sometimes these things happen.

As long as I'm back up in a reasonable amount of time I'm not too worried about it. I've used several data centers and know that an occasional outage is going to happen. As long as it comes back ok............

My servers are all up... I can ping and trace out, as well as (obviously) get to the boxes. Sirius

Yeah, my server is down as well.

I'm down too. Personally I would prefer one long downtime and get it over with. This constant downtime every other day is becoming difficult to explain to my customers.

Well, it's the new datacenter: feels like they are still ironing out some issues. I can understand this (as bad as it sounds).

how does the SLA work?

Two of our servers there didn't blink today.

Down and out for me.

Although they SHOULDN'T. Huge difference there. The fact they keep going down and have this suposedly great network. Thus far, I'm pretty disappointed with them all in all. Guess you could say just mix managed, SM, ThePlanet and Burst together for all I care. I'm just glad we're moving out of them all shortly and to a NOC with a 3 year 100% uptime record.

More like you've settled for downtime thinking it is inevitable and acceptable. Sorry, but as long as I read comments like this, I can't sit back and let folks think it's actually acceptable without at least raising a few red flags. What does 'a good network' mean anyway? For most, sadly, it means occasional dowmtime is okay and as long as folks keep thinking that, these DC's have nothing to worry about.
