Poundhosts - everything down ?

Posted by MyAlterEgo, 06-04-2004, 12:55 PM
Have a server at Poundhost that's only a few weeks old (very happy with service so far) but over an hour ago it disappeared along with the rest of the poundhost network as far as I can see. I don't want to phone them and delay things more as the server is not in production yet so it's not a big deal - just wondering if anyone else has spoken to them and knows what's going on ?

Hi, Hope this helps: Dear Customer, One of our customers machines was the target of a large DDoS attack this afternoon which caused routing problems on our network, making most destinations unreachable. We are currently working to remove the offending machine from our network. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, more information will follow... Regards, PoundHost Support Support@Support.PoundHost.com

Well, I've been having problems there for days now. I've already lost 2 clients, after after the current outage probably more. People are angry. Can't blame 'em. I never bought directly from them though. Bought through someone else with them...... My sites are all out now, sent email to the owner days ago and haven't had a response out of him yet.

Hello. Your email did get a reply. I just finished replying to another one of your emails a moment ago. Regards, Thomas Currie

When my servers down, it's not much likely I will receive that reply. What I do know, is that I sent a mail from a different email, on a different server. Never got one from there until just a few minutes ago. I went to bed, the server was down. I woke up, the server was down. I never can seem to find anything wrong with it when it's up. Hello. You are responding to our replies, so you are receiving them! There could have been a few times when you did not get a reply, however this is due to you giving us an email address that is hosted on your machine. Machine down means email would be down and you would not get a reply. We have another contact email address for yourself now. Also this has nothing to do with Poundhost, It is just your server. If you want to discuss this further on a public message board open a new thread about us. Regards, Thomas Currie

With the exception of one, all other communications were sent via a different email address Mr. Currie. Surely you saw that. I posted in this thread, if you notice in my original post, I said that I did not get it from Pound Host. I intentionally left the name of the provider out. Pound host actually, was gracious enough to get it going for me again. Twice. That is very much appreciated by me.
