this is kind of a bizarre post......hehehe you posted almost an hour after this was resolved not sure what the purpose was - but whatever. it affected about 10% of our servers btw and was isolated to one of our distribution switches.

And on Traceroute's some Backbones that are connected with them block UPD Pings... So they tell you they timeout. But pings are fine. --- mtxis.net ping statistics --- 202 packets transmitted, 202 received, 0% packet loss, time 203013ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 31.645/32.401/33.991/0.404 ms, pipe 2 From Venezuela: --- mtxis.net ping statistics --- 201 packets transmitted, 201 packets received, 0% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max = 579.1/663.7/1128.4 ms francisco@mainstream:~$

Hmm and i was thinking of grabbing a dual opteron from them. Pretty happy i didnt i guess. If they are having network issues

Posted by hostbox, 06-03-2004, 02:29 PM
They are not having any issues. There was a little Packet loss when the new fiber was connected that's all. And it was not on all the servers just on a Range (10%)

It was a little packet loss like everyone said, this is the first problem gnax has had in a while.  It was resolved very quickly so no problems here

Everynetwork has network issues once in a blue moon. GNAX has a very good network uptime.

Posted by ServerPlace4NET, 06-03-2004, 07:55 PM
I would have to agree. like jeff said, only 10% of there servers were having issues.

Posted by sailor, 06-03-2004, 08:57 PM
lol- thats funny. like you were really thinking about it. this seems like the famous reseller posts that used to go on in this board where everyone liked to think that they were doing some kind of secret bashing that no one would pick up on to support whereever they are - heheh I remember those days. I guess you are too new to remember. if you want a server dont let the fact that we had a small segment of our net have problems for 30 minutes and that has been our big event of the last 6 months. lol

Actually, I was still experiencing issues at the time of posting. We're down again, however this time I believe it's not the GNAX network but a cause of serverplace.net. I could be wrong. I am through entirely satisified with GNAX!! FANTASTIC NETWORK

Sailor I indeed emailed sales and support for information just last week I have the emails to prove it My name is Ryan Callicoat so perhaps you could check your own emails as i believe i put my name in all of them I was wanting to switch to your datacenter and going with the best offered server at the time. But i was worried in regards to network performance and uptime. Currently iam with Servermatrix and have several machines with them and until yesterday had 0 downtime with them Infact my main server hasnt been down in 1 year. Thats the kind of network i have grown used to. And was kinda worried about moving to a new network. I have made the transition to new datacenters more times than i care to count and have blown some major money in every move. It would of been just my luck at the point of me moving to gnax they experience some network issues. I was not trying to slander your company nor had any evil intentions. Not everyone is out to destroy companys I was merly stating i was about a inch away from moving into your datacenter but backed out at the last second. (infact i actually tryed to order the dual opteron from transactglobal and it wouldnt go past the credit card auth) My point is. I wasnt out to hurt your company nor did i have other motives to say what i did, Btw the person in sales i spoke to was Jeff H Just to prove that i spoke to somone. I guess ill end this now Have a good day

Network is back up with high pings.

still no go here

Posted by sailor, 06-04-2004, 10:17 AM
we are working on it- appears there are some issues still with a distribution switch. very weird. most is up on it however there are aabout 15 still down. we are working on it and are in the process of moving those to differenct switch fabric. I think it is related somehow to yesterday. I am going to do a total switch replacement when we get this stabilized - during a maintenace window of course.

we have had servers down for over two hours now.

Posted by universal2001, 06-04-2004, 11:17 AM
Two of our servers are down but I still trust GNAX, they have had excellent network uptime. I'm sure this little issue was due to new network upgrades etc. Will I continue to buy more servers from sailor, eservers and their team? Certainly. Their support is friendly and responsive. The only thing I can ask at this time is perhaps they upgrade their helpdesk to something better, it's very ancient, and sometimes tickets are hard to find.. maybe they should switch to Ceberus or eSupport. Update: Called them up and someone was on the phone in a matter of seconds updating me on the network issue. Last edited by universal2001; 06-04-2004 at 11:21 AM.

I agree about the help desk system there. Especially that you get one chance to input info, then must wait for a reply until you can add new info. Then there's the "you forgot something" screen which clears all input instead of retaining it when you go back to fix it..

I have updated what happened on our forum. it was isolated to a small portion of our servers - however it was downtime for those cusotmers on that segment. we appologize for that and assure you we have learned from what happened and know what happened and are putting fixes in place so the same thing does not happen again.

My servers down again ..

Posted by ServerPlace4NET, 06-04-2004, 04:01 PM
trust me, We would not pull the plug on your server  without contacting you first. If you were having problems with your dedicated server, PM me so either me or gnax can look into it.
