Can't access unitedhosting.co.uk!

Posted by Reptilian Feline, 01-13-2004, 04:09 AM
I can't access the sites I have hosted by unitedhosting.co.uk, or their main site. Can anyone else access www.certell.com or unitedhosting? I have PM:ed UH-Matt, because I don't know if their mail will work when I can't access them through the domain. DNSReport has a fail on the nameserver. If anyone is aware of some sceduled downtime, please let me know. If anyone has an alternative contact, that would be helpful too.

UnitedHosting.co.uk is down, however Certell.com is up for me. That's all I know

Maybe, hopefully, they're just updating their DNS. I can't access certell at all, but you can access it. I'm in Sweden, and I guess you're not , so would that be consistant with a change in DNS settings?

Well... it looks like everything is up and running again. DNSReport is also OK.

Hi, The server (storm) was being rebooted (and a filesystem check was run). Downtime was around 10-15 minutes. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Oh come on, it's only 10-15 minutes downtime ... no need to be panicking, people

The thread was reopened at the request of the thread starter, so Matt could add the official word regarding the downtime. Now Matt has done that and the issue appears to be resolved, there seems to be no reason to keep this thread open any longer. Therefore...

Most likely a server issue with their main server, their network is probably not down. I read earlier it had been rebooted and then ran a file system check upon reboot. Possibly a similar issue, no need for panic. Jo

We are not down.

I wish people would check their own local ISP connection before making posts such as "Such and such are down". If you believe your site is down you should raise a support ticket and then we would of been able to tell you to check your connection.

Another good way for them to check, is to use the free Alertra.com "Spotcheck" service. That will check their site from 4 different geographical locations, and let them know if it's an issue with the server, or an issue with their connection. Here's an example spotcheck - http://alertra.com/spotcheck.php?dev...48&cnt=4&rep=2
