HiVelocity 5 Year Review (2011-2016)

Posted by Dannyarr, 03-09-2016, 01:16 PM
I have had a server with HiVelocity for 5 years now, since 2011. This will be a short review since honestly there isn't much to say. These guys are top notch and you cannot go wrong with them. From what I remember there has not been a single major network outage (past the occasional few minute blip which may as well be my monitoring and not HV). Hardware has been top notch as well and no failures of any kind during the entire 5 years. There was one instance where a switch went bad and they replaced it within minutes (and my support ticket was answered in TWO minutes!), this is the only downtime caused by them that I can think of -- and honestly it's not even worth mentioning but I thought I would do so anyway as I was very impressed by the support response time. I've only needed support a few times (mostly billing related) and every time it has been handled swiftly and to my complete satisfaction. They've also been willing to work with me on the monthly price of the server after a few years passed so that has been a big help in keeping it around so long. I'm finally upgrading the server to a new dual CPU server now so I thought it's only appropriate to give them some praise. Hoping for another uneventful(ly awesome) 5 years. The customer portal has improved leaps throughout the years and I'm currently looking at a live auto-updating status page on the new server being provisioned. Neat. Thanks to Lee, Drew and Steven who have helped me throughout the years!

Brief update. I've had the "new" server for almost a year now and as usual no issues what so ever. Quite honestly the most boring DC I have a server at, no reason to ever login except to pay the bills and run apt update!

That's how it should be @Dannyarr . It's good to see another happy review for HiVelocity with an update a year later as we are considering them for a later Florida deployment although I imagine out experiences will be more eventful as we got into this whole "let's use vSphere 6.5 Enterprise Plus with Operational Management and add OpenStack Mirantis to the ecosystem" which always makes deployments take longer since you have to deploy the "under-cloud" and the "over-cloud." Be happy for only paying the bills and running #sudo apt-get update and #sudo apt-get upgrade! Although you could automate the update process but that'd leave you with just paying the bills .

"The most boring DC I have a server with, no reason to ever login except to pay the bills and run apt update!" Love it!!! I might have to use that in a future marketing effort.

been on their Website and other than a phone number, I cannot see how to contact them at all. Their server offerings don't let me select Cloud Linux and I cannot se where to select their Atlanta data centre ..... confused!

I have been with them only for 5 months, but indeed, great experience so far. will be giving a review after a full year.
