I would like to ask about an issue with the website hosted on a VPS. Website is working perfectly with http but with https it gives error that is attached. SSL is working correctly with green lock showing in the browser. Error is 'Error 504, The webs server reported Gateway Time Out'. Web server is Nginix and OS is ubuntu. How to troubleshoot this issue.

Could use some more info regarding your setup. Reviewing the access & error logs of your web server is a great place to start troubleshooting -- at least you will be able to determine if the error is from your VPS or an upstream server

Thanks everyone for assistance. I have resolved the issue. It was an issue with mode selection in Cloudflare portal. I have selected the correct mode and the site is now working with SSL.

Good to hear. The problem was with an upstream server as I suspected

he probably switched from Full SSL to Flexible SSL and the stuff from cloudflare to his server is unencrypted.

Exactly, Cloudflare offers three SSL modes. With Flexible mode traffic from visitor to cloudflare is secure but unencrypted from Cloudflare to the Server. In full mode SSL needs to be installed on host server as well and traffic is secured from visitor all the way to the server. Thank you for your time.
