Hi guys,
I've been testing storm on demand with numerous issues. I've lodged tickets without success.
I'm developing an application that shoots files from the LAN onto an internet host (www.rhinofile.com please excuse the crappy website as one is being developed).
I have tested several Cpanel hosts with success. I was hoping to offer some of my clients a beta using storm on demand using Cpanel.
The problems I have been facing are:
1) CGI hook functionality isn't working properly during a CGI.pm call, so an Ajax upload bar isn't working properly on the "internet host". It's a strange one that I can't figure out.
2) When doing a system update via Cpanel & yum update via SSH) it freezes!
It freezes on 1/80 here:
Running Transaction
Updating : e2fsprogs-libs
Could this be it dropping the console as it updates? I've never had this problem before. The cpanel also gets an error.
So I reboot a few times and it starts working?? wtf.
3) Last night during testing I get the following errors:
Your new Storm server, host3.rhinofile.com, did not provision successfully. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Please try to create your server again, and if you continue to experience problems, contact us at support@stormondemand.com or (877)330-7660.
I lodged a ticket and it was resolved pretty quickly.
4) Now I thought this might be me, to see if if that's the case, what I did last night is create a new VM using unmanaged Centos. I downloaded the demo copy of Cpanel and installed.
Tested everything and it works perfectly!
5) So I conclude now that there is something majorly wrong with their build of Centos 5.5 with Cpanel. I've lodged tickets with responses but nobody has ever gotten to the bottom of the issue.
I'm meant to be rolling out service to my clients shortly but I just can't see that happening with Storm on demand. I've spent almost 4 days full time testing and debugging. I'm sure if I was on their VPS it would work ok.
So my questions are:
1) Who can I escalate this too?
2) Why is this problem not taken seriously?
3) Are they aware of the build problem and are they avoiding talking about it?
4) Am I the only person noticing this problem?
There are strange things going on with their Centos 5.5 Cpanel build. Their normal build seems ok.

I just moved to Storm yesterday I had a few minor problems but I submitted a ticket and they fixed it no problem. I am using their centos 5.5 cpanel fully managed service. You can see my website in my sig.

Out of curiosity...
Have you done a yum update or Cpanel system update?
P.S I've never seen snow before

No I haven't done anything with updating the server. I had a problem with my image gallery not working. But I submitted a ticket and they fixed it for me.
EDIT: by the way snow sucks lol

1) I am the best person at this exact moment for you to escalate this to. I will be having a supervisor call you, and get your problems sorted immediately.
2) I am very sorry that we have made you feel that your problems are not taken seriously. I assure you that we place the utmost priority on any problem that our customer is having.
3 &4) I am not aware of any build problems on any of our Storm builds, but I will be having someone investigate immediately.
Again, I sincerely apologize for the way that we have made you feel about this problem. I will have a supervisor contact you shortly, and we will work with you to get this resolved.

If you do try, can you let me know. It's likely we're from the same build.

I don't really want to try they upgraded my PHP to work with my image script I don't want to break anything. I would rather let them manage the server.

I had a similar issue with Cpanel update freezing right after I built my first Centos Cpanel server with Stormondemand. I was attemting to update from stable to the latest release and it hung at 20% complete. I deleted the server and built another one and the same thing happened.
I opened a ticket about it and support said that RPM database on the server was corrupt, causing issues with the cPanel update script. Since it happened twice I would have to assume that Storm distribution was corrupt. To fix it they removed the RPM database and rebuilt it and did an UPCP and has worked fine ever since.
Support handled my ticket promptly and I have been very happy with Storm, having migrated from an older dedicated server I was surprised how much faster the Storm server was.
I am sure they will resolve your issue soon. As for your other issues be sure to check that all the modules you need are installed in Apache. You may need to upgrade Apache with the EasyApache script and choose your modules.

Hostseeker: So the same thing happened.
Anyway they've solved the other issues quickly. They handled the criticism graciously.
Seperately and unrelated I'm still looking into the cgi issue. It could be a number of things as it's a custom build with additional security.
I've got a few things on my list to test. I've already tried multiple combinations with Easyapache but there are still some more to go.

My website kept tripping MOD Security but I submitted a ticket and they worked on it until it was fixed. I am sure if you submit a ticket with your problems they will work on it until its fixed.

Yes the programmer and I have come to that conclusion too about mod_security.
We're still testing.
P.S after my initial complaint they've been handling everything very well.

Good to hear, so far I am very happy with Storm and have no plans on leaving.

We're testing multiple hosting companies to see how functional and reliable they are for the client part of our software.
Stormondemand and Unixy.net are my favourites so far.

That's really good when web masters have found the right companies for themselves.
