Does anyone here have any experience with gigenet cloud? Would you recommend them? I was looking for some affordable cloud options and cam accross their website. Also does anyone know if they are a true "cloud" host or just a glorfied VPS using the cloud name like some supposed cloud hosts.

I just signed up half an hour ago. Couple of things I've noticed. 1 - deploying a vm doesnt happen under a minute. My disk space is 15g and it took a good 5 minutes or so. I was told, "probably due to high load." Um ok, so why advertise that it takes less than a minute to deploy a VM? 2 - I still can't access my VM through console. Dashboard is pretty simple and straightforward to use but I can't figure out what's going on. The console page tells me I can't access the console due to an update in progress. So far, I dont see anything that suggests that. Still waiting on support. I might just go back to Linode. :-(

Quick update, I searched twitter and it seems gigenet has been experiencing issues the past few days (someone mentioned past month). Every company has issues to deal with and that's understandable, but I sure picked a good time to sign up for service. I just submitted a ticket since I'm not able to access my console. I was told support is backed up. Wow, if the company I worked for said that, we wouldn't have paying clients. Anyways, I'm in the process of requesting a refund but now I'm told I can't get one. Ridiculous since I paid $10 and I haven't been able to use my VM!

Hi , we are in the middle of doing mass migrations on the system so the portal and backend system is a bit tied up. Please PM me and I will refund you your money. The outtages we had were limited to a small portion of our customer base due to issues with one of the SANS. We are replacing the SAN. Our system has been quite reliable and we are not happy about the outtages we had and are putting in place new measures and systems. We have designed a new prototype for a storage system that has no points of failure. All of our SANS are setup with a hot spare and replication but it is still a single point of failure, I don't believe there is any cloud provider that has a SAN system that isn't the weakest link in there systems. While we develop this new system we are replacing the problematic SAN and running on the spare while we migrate customers to another SAN , while we rebuild that one SAN with new systems. It is one of the first SANS in our system and over the last few months each SAN we have put online has been better then the other. Anyhow, PM me and I will issue you a refund and I can issue you free credits to use the system at no cost.

kubicle, please PM me the ticket number , I would like to find out what tech said and get to the bottom of this. That is completely unacceptable. We have 1000's of cloud servers running and the thing we get complemented on the most is the support.

Sorry about that, Bryan had been using my laptop earlier and left his account logged in, so I had accidently posted under his account. Please PM on this account.

Ameen, I've responded to the ticket and have asked for a refund. Let's handle it through there.

Thanks but here's what I don't understand. If you anticipated new clients signing up, why would you put new clients on the problematic SAN? I would continue to work on resolving the issue but at the same time take precautionary steps to ensure that new clients are not affected. I'm not saying to ignore your existing clients but this leaves a bad experience with new clients such as myself.
